Pokémon TCG: Most Valuable Chaos Rising Cards

Pokémon TCG: Most Valuable Chaos Rising Cards

Chaos Rising is out now, with fan-favourite Pokémon Mega Greninja taking centre stage. It was met with a lot of hype when images first leaked, but fans waned quickly when they realised it’d be yet another smaller set. Typically, small sets are carried by one main chase card, with Phantasmal Flames being an outlier. But that’s not to say that there’s nothing in these sets that fans want to hunt down!

If you’re looking to snag yourself the top Pokémon cards, you can’t miss these gems for your collection. Here are the top 10 most valuable cards in Chaos Rising so far, based on the third-party performance of its Japanese counterpart, Ninja Spinner.

Emma Super Rare #111/083

Starting our countdown at #10, the Emma Super Rare #111/083 is selling for $8.01, at the time of writing. This one definitely doesn’t need her detective skills to figure out why it’s on this list – Emma is a fan favourite, first introduced in Pokémon X and Y, and a returning character in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The card’s popularity can also be attributed to the fact its artwork is from Akira Komayama, known for illustrating some of the best character cards, like Larry from Paradox Rift, and Tarragon from Perfect Order.

Ampharos – 088/083

Next, at number 9, this adorable Ampharos card is a personal favourite of mine. It was designed by Saino Misaki, you might know for Erika’s Invitation, from 151. I absolutely love the field of fluffy Mareep hiding in the background, and the blue-and-yellow contrast makes the card stand out in the resale market. Ampharos is currently valued at $12.28 on TCGPlayer, with huge growth potential in the next few weeks. It might be a good idea to pick this one up as soon as you can, though the market is expected to be incredibly volatile in the first few days after release, as ever.

Roxie’s Performance – 119/083

Moving on to number 8, Roxie’s Performance Special Art Rare #119/083 is another fan-favourite character supporter card. Roxie, a beloved Poison-type Gym leader from Unova, shines in this punk rock-inspired scene. Supporter SIRs like Iris’s Fighting Spirit from Ascended Heroes are known to maintain value thanks to their dedicated fanbases, and Roxie currently sits at a tidy $16.08 on TCGPlayer. Not bad, considering Pokémon Black and White release 16 years ago. Feel old yet?

Mega Greninja ex – 098/083

Landing at number 7, the first Greninja card from Chaos Rising is the Mega Greninja ex Super Rare. Greninja’s popularity is evident here, with its iconic upside-down pose selling for $17.31 on TCGPlayer right now. This card reminds me of Munkidori’s Adrena-Brain, which is both good and bad news for anyone who plays competitively. Its Mortal Shuriken ability means once during your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, you may discard a Basic Water Energy card from your hand in order to use this Ability, and place 6 damage counters on 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon. Great for gaining control of the game state, but bad for anyone who stands in its way.

Mega Floette ex – 115/083

At the halfway point, the Mega Floette ex Special Illustration Rare #115/083, illustrated by Teeziro, earns its spot. Priced at $23.55, this powerful Pokémon is especially sought after since Floette only received a Mega in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This will certainly be a chase card for all fans.

Mega Dragalge ex – 116/083

Dragon-type Pokémon always tend to end up in the chase card lists, and this Dark/Poison-type’s card is one of my personal favourites on this list. A twisting form, with a colourful yet dark atmosphere, this Mega Dragalge ex Special Illustration Rare could cause chaos in the competitive meta. It has two moves – Corrosive Fluid discards all Pokémon Tools and all Special Energy attached to all of your opponent’s Pokémon, while Deadly Poison poisons your opponent’s Active Pokémon and places 16 damage counters on that Pokémon instead of 1 during checkup. You can pick up Mega Dragalge ex for $25.45.

Cinccino ex – 117/083

It’s a hefty jump from fourth to third place, but I think this fluffy Cinccino ex Special Illustration Rare is a steal for $43.95. This adorable card is illustrated by Keisin, who is best known for Glaceon from Prismatic Evolutions and Mienshao from White Flare. While Mega Evolutions are the theme of Chaos Rising, the sheer cuteness of Cinccino could see this card rocket in value.

Mega Greninja ex – 114/083

Taking the number 2 spot on this list is the Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare #114/083, coming in at a market average of $324.98. This card is actually one of three cards in a three-card artwork, linking up with the connected Froakie and Frogadier Illustration Rares, illustrated by Susumu Maeya.

Mega Greninja ex – 120/083

Finally, at the top of our list, the number one most valuable Chaos Rising chase card is the stunning Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare. This card is currently valued at $495.67 and is expected to rise. The highest price on TCGPlayer is $570.00, with speculation that it might break the $600 mark soon.

There are some gorgeous cards in Chaos Rising, and if you’re looking to hunt them down, your best bet is to hunt for Booster Boxes at your local game store or online, as they offer the most consistent pull rates for the price.
