The British Esports Federation has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging to support serving personnel, veterans, and their families in the military community.

As outlined in the Armed Forces Covenant document, it was signed by the President of British Esports, Chester King, on December 4th, 2025.

The esports organisation will promote the Armed Forces through collaboration, encourage the celebration of events such as Armed Forces Day, and offer discounts and support to UK service spouses and partners.

It will also provide access to supply chain partners to the Armed Forces community, alongside discounted rates when using office space, conference facilities, and other residential properties. British Esports will also support work experience opportunities for the Armed Forces community.

Other commitments include supporting Armed Forces personnel and veterans through specific programmes in partnership with the Ministry of Defence. Additionally, it aims to support staff in the Reserve Forces, and help volunteer leaders in the military cadet organisations.

“Our signing of the Armed Forces Covenant underscores our commitment to supporting military personnel in the UK and beyond,” said Chester King in the blog post.

“We recognise the contribution that service personnel, reservists, veterans, the cadet movement and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country, and we will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.”

Over the years, the military and esports worlds have crossed paths through events, partnerships, and more. In 2025, the Royal Navy’s HMS Prince of Wales ship created an esports suite in partnership with British Esports, featuring 12 Alienware PCs to be used for onboard esports tournaments.

The British Forces Broadcasting Service launched the BFBS Pro League, a competition for the UK armed forces community, holding its Grand Final at the University of Staffordshire.

British Esports Ambitions for 2026

The national esports body, British Esports, has strived to grow the esports scene within the UK, establishing partnerships and setting plans in motion for 2026.

In 2026, the entity announced a partnership with Loughborough University, signing a Memorandum of Understanding to support the development of the industry through education programmes.

Back in January, British Esports also revealed its ambition to secure National Team Partner status for the upcoming Esports Nations Cup, aiming to field a national team for the event in Saudi Arabia.

A dedicated gaming and esports arena is also set to open in Sunderland later this year, featuring a 200-seat theatre along with content studios to serve as a training and education hub for UK professional players.
