Blizzard Entertainment is officially expanding the *World of Warcraft* universe with *World of Warcraft: Forever*, a brand-new experience arriving on November 4. Positioned as a distinct third branch alongside Modern and Classic WoW, this upcoming release preserves the core identity of the long-running MMORPG while injecting a wealth of original content, modernized systems, and visual enhancements. Players will return to a level-60 cap and the deliberately paced progression that defined early Azeroth, complete with original character models and nostalgic spell animations, all elevated by refined UI, improved core mechanics, and updated graphics.
The expansion introduces over 1,000 new quests, uncharted territories, and fresh secrets hidden within familiar zones. Heading up these new locations is Zephras Isle, a high-stakes starting area plunged into crisis following the sudden vanishing of its elemental air guardians. This realm serves as the home of the Skyborne, a brand-new elven race that can align with either the Horde or the Alliance. A Skyborne character’s faction choice determines their primary spellcasting archetype—Horde members gain access to the Shaman class, whereas Alliance members can become Mages. Regardless of allegiance, Skyborne can also play as Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, or Druids, complete with brand-new race-exclusive druidic forms.
Blizzard is also lifting long-standing class restrictions for legacy races. Players will soon be able to create Dwarf Shamans, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests, Troll Warlocks, and Orc Mages. To incentivize exploring these new combinations, *WoW: Forever* debuts the Legacy System, an account-wide progression mechanic. Players earn shared Legacy Points by completing various in-game challenges, such as clearing dungeon sets, reaching leveling milestones, attaining PvP ranks, and mapping out the world.
These shared points can then be allocated into three character-specific talent trees: Adventure, Professions, and Resourcefulness. Upgrades offer powerful utility, including passive health and mana recovery upon killing enemies, increased yields when gathering rare materials, and the complete removal of reagent costs for specific class spells. While the shared point pool rewards leveling secondary characters (“alts”), players who prefer sticking to a single main character can still fully utilize the system without feeling disadvantaged.
Beyond world content, *WoW: Forever* comes stacked with new dungeons, 10- and 20-player raids, expanded skill trees, and revamped professions. Blizzard has committed to a multi-year post-launch roadmap that will deliver regular content patches across all level brackets—not just for the endgame—giving players fresh storylines and environments to explore regardless of their character’s level.
Visually, the title bridges classic aesthetics with modern technology. Overhauled environmental lighting, dynamic volumetric fog, realistic sun rays, terrain-cast shadows, and ray-reflective water effects give the world a dramatic visual refresh while carefully preserving the iconic artistic style of original Azeroth.
*World of Warcraft: Forever* requires no additional subscription fee, as it is fully included with any standard *World of Warcraft* subscription or active Game Time. Pre-purchases are available now ahead of the global launch on November 4.
To mark the upcoming launch, Blizzard is hosting a live, real-world competition in Toronto, Canada. Titled *WoW: Forever presents Escape Together*, the event will feature popular content creators and cosplayers representing the Horde and Alliance as they battle through physical challenges, culminating in a real-life escape room themed after the legendary Scarlet Monastery. Fans can tune in to watch the faction showdown live on Friday, October 23 at 10 a.m. PDT via the official Warcraft Twitch channel.
