Wildcard finished fifth-sixth at FOX Legacy Season 1 in Portugal, cutting its projected chance of qualifying for the PGL Singapore Major from 39% to 24%.
The North American team still has two LAN events on its schedule, but the result leaves less room for error in its bid to reach one of Counter-Strike’s biggest tournaments. The Major’s place in the wider Counter-Strike tournament circuit makes the remaining ranking opportunities consequential for teams competing on the qualification bubble.
A playoff loss put Wildcard under pressure
Wildcard opened the playoffs in the upper bracket against Nice Try, ranked 115th in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), and lost. The defeat sent the team to the lower bracket, where it beat EAC before INFINITE eliminated it 2-0.
The run ended with a 1-2 series record. According to the source’s account of projections calculated by Mischief, Wildcard’s estimated qualification chance fell from 39% before the event to 24% after its exit.
That setback followed a second-place finish at iBUYPOWER Masters FML 2026, where Wildcard finished behind Liquid. FOX Legacy was the first of three LAN events scheduled for the team after FML, leaving two remaining opportunities to improve its position.
Two LANs remain in the qualification race
Wildcard’s next events are FRAG University and FiRe Last Chance. The projections cited in the source put the team at a 55% qualification chance if it finishes in the top eight at both events.
Winning either tournament would offer a larger boost in those estimates. A FRAG University title is projected to raise Wildcard’s chance to 74%, while winning FiRe Last Chance could lift it to 89%, with the latter event’s stronger field contributing to its greater projected value.
Those percentages are estimates, not qualification guarantees. They underline how much the remaining results could shape Wildcard’s Major campaign, with a deep run at FiRe potentially carrying more weight than a FRAG University title.
Wildcard’s next results become decisive
Wildcard is not yet out of contention, but its route now depends more heavily on delivering results at its final two scheduled LANs. The team will need to build on its earlier FML performance and recover ranking ground after the Portugal exit.
The PGL Singapore Major is part of a long-running competitive tradition, with qualification offering teams a place on Counter-Strike’s largest stage and a chance to join the history of Major champions. Wildcard’s next opportunity comes at FRAG University, before FiRe Last Chance provides its final listed LAN chance to strengthen its position.
