Following its recently completed $110 billion merger between Paramount and Warner Bros., Skydance Media has instituted a company-wide mandatory five-day return-to-office (RTO) policy paired with a voluntary buyout program to reduce headcount.
According to a report by Vertical Slice, the mandatory RTO policy applies across all Skydance operations, including Skydance Games—the combined division of the former WB Games and Paramount Games—as well as DC Comics and the company’s various other media holdings. In addition to the strict office requirement, Skydance is offering a voluntary buyout package aimed at lowering total staffing levels.
The move follows a series of previous downsizings within WB Games prior to the merger. Last year, the publisher shut down several divisions, including Monolith Productions (which was developing a *Wonder Woman* title), *MultiVersus* developer Player First Games, and mobile studio Warner Bros. San Diego. Warner Bros. previously attributed those closures to a strategic restructuring intended to prioritize core franchises such as *Harry Potter* and *Mortal Kombat*.
During the initial bidding process for Warner Bros. last year, Netflix reportedly attributed minimal financial value to WB Games when attempting to outbid Paramount Skydance. Paramount and Warner Bros. ultimately finalized their deal earlier this month, consolidating their operations under the Skydance brand.
