Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is considering merging Electronic Arts with Savvy Games Group, potentially bringing franchises including EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, Battlefield, The Sims, Pokémon Go, and Monopoly Go under one gaming company. Bloomberg reported on Sept. 10 that PIF executives are weighing the combination as a way to coordinate their growing collection of gaming assets more closely.
No final decision has been made, people familiar with the discussions told Bloomberg, and a merger is unlikely before Savvy completes its $6 billion acquisition of Moonton, the ByteDance-owned developer behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Any combination of EA and Savvy would also reportedly face regulatory review given the size of the businesses involved.
