There’s no way Rockstar, Sony, or Microsoft is going to drop the price of Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of launch in any official capacity. They have no reason to. The game will likely be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, even at full price. So if you want to save, you have to look for other ways. Thankfully, I found a surefire way to save $10 on GTA 6 preorders – but it’s only good today, September 3. Read on for the details.
PlayStation Store $100 Digital Gift Card for $88
The first step is taking advantage of this one-day-only deal at Newegg that gets you a $100 PlayStation Store gift card for just $88 when you enter promo code LDSF378 at checkout.
When Newegg sends your digital gift card via email, the next thing you need to do is head over to the PlayStation Store. Sign in and click on your profile in the upper right corner to open a drop-down menu. Select “Redeem Code” and paste your code in there. That adds $100 to your PS Store account.
Now head to the GTA 6 preorder page on the PlayStation Store, and lock in your preorder. If you get the standard edition, you’ll have some PlayStation credit left over, since it costs $79.99. But if you spring for the Ultimate Edition, which most people are doing, it’ll cost the full $99.99, plus tax. Then you won’t have any PlayStation bucks left sitting in your account to worry about.
The standard edition gets you the game, the Vintage Vice City Pack, and one month of GTA+. The ultimate edition has all that, plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which includes what Rockstar is calling “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” It contains an array of exclusive vehicles, weapons, and outfits, plus a handful of in-game businesses that will only be open to Ultimate Edition owners. These are businesses like tattoo parlors, salons, and mod shops that offer exclusive styles.
There’s bound to be massive traffic when downloads are available. Thankfully, you’ll have a full week to download the game before it comes out. Downloads begin November 12.
