BlizzCon made its big return for the first time since 2023, and Blizzard used the weekend to show what almost every one of its major series is doing next. Diablo is coming back to Diablo, StarCraft will become an open-world shooter, World of Warcraft: Forever is turning the long-requested Classic+ idea into a third version of WoW, and even Warcraft 3 somehow has new story content more than two decades later.
Some of those games are still years away, with Diablo V targeting 2029 and StarCraft not coming out until 2030, but Blizzard decided to still announce them to showcase confidence and gather feedback on these projects. Several other projects are considerably closer, however, with WoW Forever releasing in November, the new Warcraft 3 campaign being already out, and updates on the way for Overwatch, Hearthstone, Diablo IV, and Heroes of the Storm.
