The Witcher 3 Price Quietly Increased Ahead of Remaster Release

The Witcher 3 has gotten a price increase ahead of the release of the game’s remaster next month.

Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red surprised fans by announcing a new remaster for The Witcher 3. It will feature visual enhancements, changes to combat, and much, much more. The best part? It’s completely free to existing owners of The Witcher 3 and if you don’t already own the DLCs, you’re getting those for free. However, if you haven’t bought the game, you will now have to pay a bit extra.

The price of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition on Steam has jumped from $39.99 to $49.99 since the announcement of the remaster. This will be the price of the remaster itself, so fans who buy the existing version are essentially paying for the new version upfront since their copy will be automatically upgraded. It’s not a huge jump, but may be a bummer for those who have been waiting for the right opportunity to buy The Witcher 3 and now have to pay a bit more, especially since the game is 11 years old.

The Witcher 3 is arguably worth the price of admission, though. The game, with all of its DLCs and side quests, is hundreds of hours long and is highly replayable. It’s one of the best RPGs of all-time and there’s a new DLC for the game releasing next year ahead of The Witcher 4’s expected release in 2028. As noted, CD Projekt Red also offers deep discounts on The Witcher 3 constantly (I got the Complete Edition for $4 on Steam last Christmas). It wouldn’t be surprising if the game goes on sale by the end of the year or in time for the game’s new DLC next year, if you don’t want to pay full price.
