The Frosthaven Board Game Gets a Rare Discount on Amazon

Frosthaven is one of the best board games on the market. It served as a follow up to the immensely popular Gloomhaven board game, and is one of the most imposing dungeon-delving board games you can buy. It’s also really quite expensive.

It’s not often that we see any sort of discount on this game, but Amazon currently has a Lightning Deal running that drops it down to its lowest price ever. For a limited time (or while stock lasts), you can pick up this massive board game for $153. The discount is set to expire around 7:45pm PT or when the deal is fully claimed.

Frosthaven comes as an enormous box full of stuff. There’s an incredibly thick rulebook, decks of cards, trays, dividers, a map, and miniatures. All-in-all, there are a few hundred hours worth of gameplay that comes packaged in a rather large box. And if you already own Gloomhaven characters and items, you can use them in this game as well. It’s a massive campaign game that can be pretty daunting for casual players.

What We Said in Our Review

We gave Frosthaven a 9 out of 10 in our review, with the caveat that you may want to jump into Jaws of the Lion first if you’re a newcomer. Here’s what we had to say about the game:

“Weirdly, although Frosthaven improves on its predecessor in almost every respect, it’s far harder to recommend. Its sheer weight and the glory of the game that came before it holds it back. If you’re a Gloomhaven fan but you haven’t yet finished working your way through that behemoth of a box it’s better to stick with what you know for now rather than start a new project. If you’re new to the entire franchise then you should absolutely jump into that brilliant combat and exploration engine but the cut-down Jaws of the Lion is a better introduction. If you’re one of the rare few who not only have seen everything Gloomhaven has to offer but also remain hungry for more, however, Frosthaven is the banquet to satiate you. Bigger, bolder and better than the original, if you can find time for it in your life it’s an epic gaming experience like no other.” – Matt Thrower
