Palworld players have harnessed the power of selective breeding to create ‘infinite bomb’ Pals that can blow themselves up, repeatedly, forever

Is that good?

Palworld players have harnessed the power of selective breeding to create ‘infinite bomb’ Pals that can blow themselves up, repeatedly, forever

Palworld, as our breeding guide shows, lets you accomplish some wild things by playing matchmaker for your creatures. You can gain early access to late-game Pals, spawn variant subspecies, and—as players have recently discovered—breed a genetic monstrosity that can repeatedly blow itself up in combat without taking any damage in the process.

This exciting advancement in living munitions development was uncovered by Japanese X user @gn02759909, who demonstrated that they “accidentally made a super crazy infinite bomb” by uploading a video of their Pal casually sprinting at an enemy boss, one-shotting it by self-detonating, and then emerging unscathed from the smoke plume.

It’s not unusual to see Tocotoco, the colorful bird Pal used in @gn02759909, exploding itself: By default, any Tocotoco a player catches comes with the Implode skill—something most players will become intimately familiar with after their base suffers its first invasion of a Tocotoco Implode Unit—and will eventually learn an upgraded form, Megaton Implode. Using Implode, a Pal “risks its life to cause a violent explosion,” dealing a heavy amount of damage in exchange for immediately incapacitating itself.

Or at least that’s the expected outcome. Clearly @gn02759909’s Tocotoco is built different, and that’s thanks to its possession of the rare Heavily Armored passive skill, which grants the Pal immunity to explosion damage. Evidently, that immunity includes the damage normally incurred by using Implode, meaning @gn02759909’s Tocotoco can explode itself to unleash huge damage without any of the bodily trauma that tends to accompany blowing yourself to smithereens.

But that’s only the beginning, because another Palworld player has a scheme for making it even worse.

Building on @gn02759909’s discovery, @AllbonesJones has proposed what he calls the “infinite monkey nuke.” The scheme involves breeding both Tocotoco’s Megaton Implode skill and the Heavily Armored passive onto the gorilla Pal, Gorirat. Like Tocotoco, Gorirat is a Neutral-type Pal, meaning that any Neutral-type skill it uses in combat, Megaton Implode included, will gain a damage bonus—one of the many inspirations Palworld has drawn from Pokemon.

What Gorirat adds to the mix, however, is its Partner Skill: When activated, its Full-Power Gorilla Mode temporarily increases its Attack stat by up to 200%. Paired with a Megaton Implode skill inherited through patient breeding, a Gorirat equipped with the Heavily Armored passive would be capable of detonating itself to cause thermonuclear-tier triple damage without suffering even a mild inconvenience.

I can’t speak for what kind of karmic debt this might incur, but points for ingenuity nonetheless.
