Ubisoft has scrapped plans to tease a new Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in-game reward, after one player miraculously discovered it by accident.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has an enormous ocean, with players likely seeing only a fraction of it if they take a dive down to its depths. So, it’s frankly incredible that one player happened to find this week’s Community Treasure Hunt chest before Ubisoft dropped the clue to its whereabouts.
And inside it? A rare outfit for pirate turned Assassin Edward Kenway, which players thought had been left out of this remake.
Writing on reddit, Assassin’s Creed fan -Holliday claimed they had been undertaking a naval contract when they saw bubbles on the surface of the ocean after dropping their anchor in a random spot. Diving down, they discovered a chest containing the Explorer Outfit, a design featured in the original Black Flag.
“Recently they had a community event with a riddle that lead to some treasure (unrelated to this treasure),” -Holliday wrote. “Unmarked treasure like that remained in the back of my mind, so as I continued to explore at my own pace I would take a swim to see if I got lucky. I wasn’t combing areas or anything like that, just a quick look.
“Finding it was honestly by pure chance,” they continued. “I glanced at my map after taking a naval contract and just how the area looked on the map peaked my interest enough to go check it out. Dropped anchor and jumped off, I immediately seen air bubbles and could not believe my eyes once I spotted what was inside. I was honestly briefly shaken with excitement since I knew it was highly sought after and didn’t believe anyone had found it yet.”
Over on Twitter/X, Ubisoft responded to word of the discovery with good humor, acknowledging that this outfit had been intended as this week’s community reward.
“You guys are too good 🤣” Ubisoft wrote via the official Assassin’s Creed social media account. “We were going to reveal a clue for this community chest on Friday but your treasure hunting skills are too great. Hats off! 👏”

For anyone seeking to claim the chest for themselves, the exact coordinates for it are 28 x 292. If you’re keen to collect them all, yet another reward has been found too — this time a rapier and figurehead. Head to 500 x 168 for those. Good sailing!
