Nintendo fans who’ve been waiting years to jump into Elden Ring can finally do so — if they have a Switch 2, that is. All set for a 28 August 2026 release date, UK pre-orders for Elden Ring Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 have finally dropped — and you can secure your copy for £59.99 at Smyths.
The first time the acclaimed RPG by FromSoftware has hit a Nintendo platform, the Tarnished Edition is going to be the only way to play Elden Ring on the Switch 2; along with the original base game, though, this also includes the massive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Along with an extra 30-40 hours of content, you get two new Starting Classes, added armor, and the opportunity to customize your noble steed of the Lands Between, Torren.
While it might seem off at first to charge £60 for a four-year-old game, 2024’s Shadow of the Erdtree is so huge in terms of added content, that it’s considered as big as plenty of standalone games in general — as pointed out in our review for the DLC. Across PS5, Xbox, and Steam, Shadow of the Erdtree is still priced between £32.99 and £34.99.
So, the base version of Elden Ring is only worth £27 at most in the grand scheme of things, which isn’t too bad for a Switch 2 port of a massive RPG like this.
What’s more, Smyths is currently the cheapest by far when it comes to UK pre-orders for Elden Ring Tarnished Edition on Switch 2. Amazon is charging a standard RRP price of £69.99, making Smyth’s £10 saving the immediate go-to.
As an added disclaimer, however, this physical version of Elden Ring on Switch 2 is a Game-Key Card — meaning neither the base game nor the expansion is pre-loaded onto the card, and you will need to download both to your console through the internet.
