Team Vitality signs 2024 French chess champion Jules Moussard

French esports organisation Team Vitality has announced that it has signed former AEGIS player and 2024 French chess champion Jules Moussard.

He will join Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, who has renewed his contract, to represent Team Vitality in upcoming Chess tournaments in 2026.

Grandmaster Jules Moussard is best known for his win in the 2024 French Chess Championship after defeating Laurent Fressinet, who is currently ranked 105th in the world, in the Grand Finals.

According to his Chess.com player page, he currently has a score of 2602 in slow Classical games, 2600 in the medium-paced Rapid games, and 2643 in fast Blitz games.

He has also competed in a number of S-Tier events during 2025, playing against some of the best Chess grandmasters in the world. He placed between ninth and twelfth in the 2025 Esports World Cup Last Chance Qualifier, missing out on the main event. He also competed in the FIDE World Chess Championships, where he placed 49th in the Rapid division and 30th in the Blitz tournament.

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave will also continue to represent Team Vitality after first signing with the organisation back in February, 2025. He is best known for becoming the FIDE World Blitz Champion in 2021 after achieving the best results out of 50 international competitors.

According to his Chess.com player page, he is ranked 20th in the world, with a score of 2720 in Classical, 2735 in Rapid, and 2761 in Blitz.

In 2025, he represented Team Vitality in several S-Tier events. He played in the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he placed between ninth and twelfth and secured $65,000 (~£48,800) in winnings. He also placed runner-up in the Grand Chess Tour Finals after losing 13-15 to Team Liquid’s Fabiano Caruana, but secured $100,000 (~£75,080) in prize pool funds.

He recently placed third in the Titled Tuesday Grand Prize 2025/2026 Winter Split, which was won by Team Liquid’s Magnus Carlsen, and is expected to compete in the Chess.com Open 2026.
