TL;DR

  • Fortnite x Overwatch will possibly be announced on February 4.
  • February 4 is the date of the Overwatch Spotlight stream, where the collaboration could be announced.
  • While the Overwatch Spotlight stream may not announce the collab, it will reveal more of Blizzard’s 2026 plans for Overwatch 2.
  • The Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration will launch within three months as of January 23.

Fortnite has felt like the biggest game in the world for some time. Every collaboration feels like it has an impact on pop culture, bringing in some of the most famous faces. If you have made it, you will probably end up in a Fortnite collaboration at some point, and that includes other iconic games.

It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that Overwatch, perhaps the biggest name in the hero shooter genre, is rumoured to become the latest Fortnite collaboration. News has been circling around the Fortnite x Overwatch for some time, although now it feels like we have a date.

So, let’s go over everything we know so far about the Overwatch x Fortnite collaboration, including when to expect official news and when it could release.

Fortnite x Overwatch: When will the collab be announced?

— Shiina (@ShiinaBR) January 27, 2026

According to reputable Fortnite leakers ShiinaBR and HypeX, the Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration could be announced on February 4. This would coincide with the Overwatch Spotlight event taking place on the same date.

Interestingly, the Overwatch Spotlight event has removed any sign of ‘2’ in its marketing. This could imply that Blizzard intends to talk about Overwatch as an IP, rather than about Overwatch 2 specifically. This could be a sign that Blizzard and Epic Games will announce the Overwatch x Fortnite collaboration at this event, at 10 am PST.

Then again, as part of the Blizzard Showcase graphic, Blizzard has not included a number for Diablo, so this could be for uniformity purposes, given Hearthstone and World of Warcraft’s lack of numbers. Still, with the dates given by both X leakers and Blizzard, February 4 seems a safe bet for an announcement.

It should be noted that this date is not guaranteed, as both leakers state that the Fortnite x Overwatch announcement on February 4 is a possibility. That said, there will be an announcement on Overwatch’s end for new collaborations.

When can we expect the Overwatch x Fortnite collaboration?

To my understanding, the “Overwatch Spotlight” livestream on February 4 will have reveals for all of 2026, and I’ve been very open about this collab dropping “within 3 months”

There’s virtually no chance it will drop a day after this stream

— Shiina (@ShiinaBR) January 27, 2026

While the February 4 Overwatch Spotlight could be where we hear news of the Fortnite collab straight from the horse’s mouth, it likely won’t be when the collaboration is playable. As the X post above by ShiinaBR suggests.

ShiinaBR stated that the Overwatch Spotlight will have reveals for all of 2026, and since it is making a bit of a comeback, perhaps 2026 will be a big year for the hero shooter. It was also stated that “there’s virtually no chance it will drop a day after this stream” when referring to the Overwatch x Fortnite collaboration.

It is believed that, as of a post on January 23, the Fortnite x Overwatch collab will drop within three months. This means that the collaboration will launch at the end of April at the latest and could be part of either Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 or 2.

Fortnite x Overwatch: Speculation

Until February 4, there will likely be little news on the collaboration. Interestingly, this could be a two-way collaboration. While Fortnite is famous for its collabs with massive IPs, Overwatch 2 has done its fair share, from Transformers to anime like One Punch Man.

Even though everyone loves playing their favourite characters from other IPs in Fortnite, the game does have some original characters that the cast of Overwatch could play dress up with. A Soldier 76 skin with Jonesy’s outfit is an example, and chances are that Kiriko is going to get something too.

Given that Overwatch has its fair share of iconic characters, they could just as easily be dancing around the battle royale map. Tracer, as Overwatch’s mascot, is probably a safe bet, but the scale of the collaboration isn’t yet known.

Disclaimer: This article combines confirmed details with industry speculation. We’ll update it regularly as new info or leaks emerge.

Conclusion

Overwatch 2 and Fortnite have been doing collaborations for years now, and given that Fortnite has its gaming icons skins, a collaboration with Overwatch just makes sense. The stylisation of both games will likely help the collaboration too.

Keep an eye out for the Overwatch Spotlight stream on February 4. Even if the Fortnite x Overwatch collab isn’t announced, there will be plenty revealed for fans of Overwatch 2, whether that be collabs or Blizzard Entertainment’s plans for Overwatch in 2026.
