The CECC is a large-scale collegiate esports tournament organised by the Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG). The event sees champions of esports conferences around the United States compete in the event known also as “May Madness”, which is a play on the “March Madness” playoffs of the collegiate basketball system in the United States.

There will be a total of 84 teams participating this year from a total of 18 collegiate esports conferences, including the Big Esports Conference, National Esports Collegiate Conferences, the Great Lakes Esports Conference and many others. The teams will compete in Overwatch 2, Rocket League, VALORANT and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Fast food chain McDonald’s will act as the presenting sponsor and other partners will support the event with giveaways and activations during the first weekend of May. It was already announced that the fast food brand will also have a red carpet Jersey Ceremony at the start of the weekend, where each athlete will receive a branded jersey. The new partners join an already large roster of commercial partners which includes Dairy MAX, Dallas Cowboys,Lenovo, Cisco, Red Bull, PC Gamerz, Cirkul, Grand Canyon University, iSlide, and U.S. Army ROTC.

Michael Schreck, Chief Executive Officer for CSMG, commented: “We are extremely proud that students from across the country have made CECC the ultimate destination to compete in the biggest scholastic event of the year.

“Our team is focused on delivering a world class experience in Texas for the players, fans, and brand partners as we continue the mission of growing scholastic esports .”
