Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage – FNC vs LNG – October 19, 13:00 CET

Fnatic ended up going against what is probably the strongest team from Pool 3, LNG Esports. The Chinese team is one of the underdogs and potential contenders for the title, considering the sheer amount of talent the roster has. For FNC, this will be a tough matchup.

Luckily, drawing LNG in the first round means they won’t have to face them anymore in the Swiss stage. If you are wondering how the new format works, check out our info page for all the details. With that in mind, let’s go over some of the key aspects of the series.

The battle between ADCs

LNG made one of the biggest upgrades between Spring and Summer, bringing in GALA from RNG. The ADC was known as one of the best in the LPL, and together with world-class players like Tarzan and Scout, LNG was expected to make a major step forward in Summer, which they did. The team finished second in the LPL playoffs, forcing JDG to Silver Scrapes.

Apart from the aforementioned players, top laner Zika and support Hang have been positive contributors to the team’s growth. In particular, Zika was consistently among the best tops in the league, doing a great job at absorbing pressure while not falling behind to his counterparts. If this were the case again at Worlds, LNG would be in contention for the championship.

FNC will be put to the test across the board. LNG has potentially better players in every single role aside from support and top lane, where Oscarinin might find a way to get the upper hand on Zika. The jungle-mid duo will be the one to suffer the most unless Razork somehow turns up on the day.

What we need to see from FNC most importantly, however, is proactivity: the goal is to show aggressiveness and be willing to make plays on the map. Even if they fall behind against LNG, their gameplay will allow them to get wins against weaker teams.

Prediction: FNC 0 – 1 LNG
