Mortal Kombat 1 Dataminers Believe They’ve Found Clues to Unannounced DLC Characters

Dataminers have a long history of digging into NetherRealm’s fighting games to unearth potentially upcoming content, such as DLC characters and even story expansions. Unsurprisingly, they’ve already done the same to Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1’s effective release date was September 14, which means dataminers have had a few days now to get their hands dirty with the game’s code before the official street date of September 19.

Mortal Kombat 1 spoilers follow.

Dataminers have unearthed voice lines that suggest either cut content or upcoming, unannounced DLC characters. While NetherRealm has already announced the characters set to appear in Kombat Pack 1 (check out IGN’s Mortal Kombat 1 character guide for more), based on these voice lines, Kombat Pack 2 may include Jade, Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Ghostface from the Scream films. There’s even a suggestion the T-1000 from Terminator and Conan the Barbarian will appear in Mortal Kombat 1 at some point.

– Noob Saibot
– Cyrax (Robot)
– Kotal / He-Man / Conan
– Ghostface
– Unknown Girl
– Jade
– Cassie Cage
– Kung Jin

Need time to collect everything and theorize…

(Peacemaker’s father and the T-1000 are both played by Robert Patrick.)
Dataminers have also found what look like seasonal Fatalities, including one tied to Halloween. (Check out IGN’s list of Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities for more.)

NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. Games has yet to comment on these datamines, and are unlikely to do so. Mortal Kombat development chief Ed Boon, who’s known for trolling fans on social media, may have something to say about it all however.

In the meantime, fans are sorting these potential DLC characters into categories, and speculating as to whether they will appear in Kombat Pack 2 or Mortal Kombat 1’s story expansion.

IGN’s Mortal Kombat 1 review returned an 8/10. We said: “The bone-crunching gameplay of Mortal Kombat 1 is some of the best the series has ever seen, thanks to the game-changing Kameo system. NetherRealm delivers a fantastic single-player story mode as well. However, the new Invasions mode is a grind and the online options feel dated.”
