Starfield’s Future Updates Outlined by Bethesda Game Studios

Starfield continues to take the gaming industry by storm, having been on the market for a week and taking control of social circles the world over. It’s a monumental, phenomenal undertaking that has smashed records and marked itself as the biggest Bethesda Game Studios title ever – and it’s only just getting started, it seems. In a recent update, BGS lifted the lid on what’s coming next for Starfield, outlining a series of future updates that will address various concerns players have about the game.

It’s nothing too stunning – that’ll come later. But for those who are having certain issues, these future updates certainly put them to bed – and then some. It’s encouraging to see that Bethesda Game Studios is so switched on this early and actively leaning into the community feedback that’s circulating online.

Here’s what’s coming in the near future for Starfield.

‘We Are Blown Away By The Response’

In a statement that was published across various platforms, BGS took a moment to thank everyone for getting involved in Starfield thus far. It was stressed that this isn’t a ‘one-and-done’ game, but it’ll be supported for several years. If there’s one thing that Bethesda does well, it’s long-term support – and that has been made apparent by the operating model deployed in previous titles. From The Elder Scrolls series to the Fallout franchise, BGS has proven to be an expert when it comes to releasing expansions and updates.

And let’s not forget about Fallout 76 – this live service title is now five years old and it’s still going strong – and yes, it’s a great MMORPG now.

Here’s what BGS said:

‘This is a game we’ll be supporting for years and years to come, so please keep all the feedback coming! Even if we don’t get to your requests immediately, we’d love to do it in the future, like city maps. Our priority initially is making sure any top blocker bugs or stability issues are addressed, and adding quality-of-life features that many are asking for.’

Outside of the ‘city maps’, there were several key elements directly addressed by Bethesda that will be implemented in near-future updates:

HDR Calibration
Brightness and Contrast Controls
FOV Slider
NVIDIA DLSS Support
32:9 Ultrawide Support

Most importantly, there will be an EAT BUTTON integrated with Starfield, allowing players to instantly scoff anything edible that they come across. Currently, players have to pick food up and then navigate into their inventory to consume food.

Is Starfield Worth Getting?

Starfield is a fantastic game, there’s no denying it. It’s immense and immersive, and it offers players untold levels of opportunity when it comes to exploring a vast, open universe. It’s by no means perfect – but what games are these days? It’s on Game Pass, so there’s almost no risk involved with playing the game, and if you get it, you’ll be joining the ranks of millions of satisfied customers.

Personally, I’ve poured around sixty hours into Starfield at the time of writing, and I’ve experienced zero bugs. I have my issues with it, sure – but it’s a brilliant experience overall and I know there’s just so much more in store.
