Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) was released back in July 2016 and has undergone a lot of change over the past seven years. The game has now become one of the most popular MOBA titles worldwide with a developed esports ecosystem as well. Amongst the changes, MOONTON has switched up the logo more than once as well. Today, the company announced that it was bringing a new logo for Mobile Legends (MLBB).
While the new logo looks similar to the older one, it has several changes. This includes a slightly different font, the M in the logo has been changed, and most notably: the diamond in the middle of the ‘O’ has gotten a blue glow. While the changes might seem minute the new logo does look more modern.
Why did MOONTON change the Mobile Legends (MLBB) logo?
MOOTNON, the developer, released a long statement announcing the logo change and the rationale behind it.
“To fully present the concept of MLBB’s art upgrading and to create a more youthful and diversified brand image, we have upgraded our logo, and the new logo will officially come into use from now on.”
The company said in a statement.
MOONTON added that the new logo will be gradually integrated into all scenarios. During this transition phase, both the old and new logo will be recognized by the company. The developer also stated that it’s adopting a new art style to make it “more youthful, eye-catching, and exquisite.”
This will now be the third logo for Mobile Legends since its 2016 release. After the initial release, the logo was changed in September 2020, and three years later is getting a new look. You can look at the logo changes over the years below.
MLBB logo change was a point in the Riot Games v. MOONTON lawsuit
Back in May 2022, Riot Games filed a since-dismissed copyright infringement lawsuit against MOONTON for ripping off League of Legends with its MOBA title. One of the points in the lawsuit was that MOONTON had copied the logo as well. Riot Games provided photos to prove this point. At the time, Riot had alleged that the MLBB logo change looked “highly similar to Riot’s old logo.”
While the lawsuit was filed in 2022, this isn’t the cause for the present change in the logo as it has already been dismissed by a U.S. court.
