Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.1 Leaves Fans Much Happier After Sorceress Buffs and Other Key Fixes

Diablo IV Patch 1.1.1’s full notes are finally here, and it seems as if fans are actually kind of… happy?

Patch notes for the new Diablo IV update dropped earlier today, bringing with it some crucial fixes, including an update to a bugged Barber malignant power that was effectively useless. What’s more, the patch includes solid buffs for the much-maligned Sorceress class.

“As a Chain Lightning Sorc… I’m f*cking stoked,” one Reddit user wrote. “Build was already fun enough pre-patch.”

Barbarian likewise received attention with a focus on speeding up combat flow by increasing Fury generation on basic skills.

The lengthy patch notes touch on everything from Treasure Goblins to Nightmare Dungeons to Malignant Hearts, fixing many of the major problems that fans have had with Season 1. Blizzard community manager Adam Fletcher also confirmed that the patch addresses Diablo IV’s VRAM memory leak.

Yeah this one has some changes to VRAM management. We have had some tests internally with this and seen memory levels stay consistent over numerous hours of gameplay and porting in and out through towns.

We will monitor post 1.1.1 for any additional items.

Overall, fans seem much more positive than before, which is a major improvement from the pre-patch around the beginning of Season of the Malignant, which had the community up in arms. In the wake of that update, Perez said, “We don’t plan on doing a patch like this ever again.”

It wasn’t all positives for Blizzard. More than a few fans observed that the patch contained no mention of Wrathful Invokers — a crucial Season 1 item with a comparatively low drop rate.

Really hope you guys revisit the drop rates on wrathful hearts/invokers. I have had one of each drop and I’m level 61. All the hearts go away at the end of the season so I’m not sure why they feel as rare as an uber unique, just feels like I’m missing out on stuff for no reason

Diablo IV Season 1, which launched last month, is expected to continue into late October 2023. Blizzard has already released a lengthy roadmap and promised to continue addressing community feedback through Season 3 and beyond.

In the meantime, Diablo IV continues to do very well for itself. It was the best-selling game in June, and it has managed to maintain momentum despite its various controversies. For more info, check out our in-depth Diablo IV Season 1 guide as well as our interactive map.
