LCK Week 4 Preview – Things you must know

20 kills are the average number of kills per game

The LCK is known to have a less bloody and more conservative playstyle with kills happening less often on the map. The numbers are proving that point: 20 is the average number of kills, as opposed to LEC (26 kills) or LPL (24 kills).

Shortest game is less than 22 minutes

It was recorded in the win by Dplus KIA against DRX with a game time of 21 minutes and 44 seconds. It was a truly one-sided game where DK was able to pick up all objectives on the map, from start to finish.

Blue side picks up First Herald 6 out of 10 times

At the highest level of play, Blue Side is known to have a great advantage not only when it comes to the draft but also in capturing Rift Herald thanks to the advantageous terrain. Red side, on the other hand, gets easier access to the first dragon, with a 54.9% percent success rate.

That said, the Rift Herald success rate is heavily in favor of blue side, registering 60.4%, according to gol.gg. Even though it’s expected to see it in blue side’s favor, it shouldn’t be that high. We’ll have to see whether this number will be going down in the following weeks.

Infernal is the most-killed dragon so far

Infernal was the preferred dragon in the first week with 61 total kills. All other drake types average around 45-48 kills each, with the exception of Hextech drake at 55. Elder dragon was only killed six times, which means teams are able to close out the game before the spawn of it.

Only one player has a KDA higher than 10

Gen.G are currently the best team in the LCK it’s not surprising to see one of its player leading the KDA leaderboard. That said, the best player is probably not who you would expect.

Delight, Gen.G’s support player, is currently on a 10.2 KDA, the only player above 10. The rest of the players are averaging numbers below 8, with Aiming being the second-best at 7.9. Below are the remaining players from the top 10:

Peyz – 7.5 KDA
Bdd – 7.2 KDA
Kellin – 7 KDA
Chovy – 6.9 KDA
Viper – 6.7 KDA
Zeka – 6.3 KDA
Kiin – 6.2 KDA
ShowMaker – 6.2 KDA

Two players have scored a pentakill

With how bot lane centric the meta has been in the past few years, ADC players have taken a leading role in the current era of League of Legends esports. Pentakills are a rare occurrence in professional play and only two players were able to get it so far in this LCK Summer Split.

Ahead of the LCK Week 4, Peyz and Viper are the only two who have managed to pick up a pentakill.

2 mid laners dominate the solo kill leaderboard

Speaking of kills, getting a solo kill in competitive play can be indicative of your worth and individual ability, especially if you’re able to kill the enemy during the laning phase.

In a region where team coordination is at the base of everything, solo kills are also a rarity, with the best players only getting 5 solo kills in the first three weeks of play. And these two players are Gen.G Chovy and HLE Zeka.

With many other players having scored 4 solo kills, it will be a close fight to determine the solo kill king at the end of the split.

One champion is pick-or-banned every game

Going into Week 4, the LCK played a total of 71 games in total. Out of those 71 games, Neeko was banned in 66 of them and picked in the remaining 5, making her the only champion with a 100% presence rate. Yuumi and Milio are following close in second place at a 99% presence rate.

75 unique champions picked

Champion diversity is a common topic that comes up every season. There might be times when the meta becomes stale and no team is willing to innovate or find new picks. So far, the LCK picked a total of 75 unique champions but most of them were only played once or twice. We hope to see that number increase over the next weeks and get close to 90 or 100 champions. It’s unlikely given the approach Korean regions have towards drafting, so it will be up to the devs to shake up the competitive meta.

One team is averaging 80% First Blood rate

After the introduction of new items and champion changes in the mid-season patch, the game has become a lot more snowbally and easier to create big leads. While it’s not as impactful in the pro play meta, getting a lead and a first kill is always a good headstart and a great way to find early advantage like an early dragon or Rift Herald.

In the LCK, there is one team averaging an 80% success rate on First Blood and that team is the no. 1 team in the region, Gen.G Esports. The LCK Spring champions picked up where they left, becoming the only undefeated team left.

They are always able to create a strong lead right from the start of the game, and they keep it until the nexus explodes. Considering how dominant they have been so far, it will be tough for other teams to take them down. That said, there are still 12 series and anything can happen.

The LCK Week 4 will start on June 28 at 10:00 CET, as Hanwha Life Esports and Dplus KIA will face other in the opening match. It will be a tough week for both teams since DK will also face T1 on Friday, and HLE will go up against Gen.G on Sunday.
