Forza Horizon 1 and 2 Servers Will Shut Down in August

Turn 10 has announced that it’ll be shutting down Forza Horizon 1 and 2’s online servers on August 22, 2023.

Online functionality such as matchmaking and leaderboards, as well as browsing and downloading ‌online user-generated content won’t be available after the shutdown date. This content includes liveries, vinyl, tuning setups, and photos. However, the single-player experience in both games will remain playable.

Turn 10 notes that the reason for the closure was that both games have a very small player population. Additionally, due to the ‌age of these games and their services, access to online functionality even before August 22 isn’t guaranteed.

Forza Horizon 2’s online service closure will impact both Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the game, as well as the standalone Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious. Players who have already purchased Forza Horizon 1 or Forza Horizon 2 can continue to download them even after the closure date.

Both games are also backward compatible on Xbox Series X|S, and this functionality will be unaffected by the server closure and players will still be able to access the single-player content.
