After a bitter defeat against the LPL’s top seed JD Gaming, T1 Oner spoke to the media and gave his opinions on the series.

Interview with T1 Oner: “Getting rid of the mistakes is key”
The Korean jungler and the rest of the team weren’t able to win the winners’ bracket and secure a spot for the MSI finals. Despite the disappointing result, Oner wants to focus more on what went wrong for the team and make the best preparation for the upcoming matches.
When asked about what T1 needs to improve the most and which team he would like to face between Gen.G Esports and BLG in the losers’ bracket, he said:
We keep making some small mistakes in-game. Getting rid of them is the way to improve. I don’t really know who is going to win tomorrow, but our focus will be on making it to the finals.
The series had the momentum swing back and forth between the two teams, bringing it to the awaited Silver Scrapes. In the last game of the series, T1 found themselves at a disadvantage, until they were able to find a great teamfight victory around the Baron Pit.
When asked about it, Oner mentioned they made a call together since they knew the enemies had vision control. During the teamfight, he made sure he man-marked the enemy Sylas since he hijacked Nautilus’ ultimate and knew he had to protect his carries.
In the last game of the series, T1 also looked for a 4v5 fight when Oner died. Despite not having the jungler and Gwen’s ultimate for the fight, T1 thought they were in a pinch and had to try something: “It was better trying something than not doing anything at all,” he said.
While Game 5 didn’t go as expected, Oner thought Game 4 ended up being more decisive. The team ended up drafting a similar team comp to Game 1 but according to the Korean jungler, that wasn’t the intention:
We wanted to try something new in Game 4 but then ended up with some BP (ban and pick) issues.
While the main outlier might have been Malphite, Oner did later specify that the top lane pick wasn’t the issue since the team thought it was a great pick for the situation and his teammate Zeus played the champion well. Therefore, something else didn’t go T1’s way, even though he didn’t mention what exactly.
It’s been tough for T1 on the international stages in the last few years, having lost multiple finals. While it’s not a positive result for the team, Oner claimed he doesn’t feel the pressure of that and with the team, they just focus on trying to perform in the best way possible.
T1 will head to the losers’ bracket and face the winner of Gen.G vs BLG on May 20.
