Riot CEO revealed that Arcane Season 2 won’t be coming in 2023

Recently, Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent was interviewed by Teddy Guan, a famous LPL caster and personality within the scene. In the interview that was posted on the Chinese platform Bilibili, he shared some upsets about the sequel of Arcane.

When asked about the release date of Arcane season 2, the boss of Riot Games said that he had just watched episode three of the sequel, proving that the series is in the works: “I just watched the third episode of season 2 before my flight, so we are making progress on it.”

That said, he also gave some bad news for those who were wishing to watch the series this year.

“It is not ready yet, and there are two reasons for that. One, you want the quality and you just don’t want to rush so that takes time and it’s a good reason. The bad reason is, honestly, we didn’t know whether season 1 was going to be a success so we didn’t start season 2 until it happened. If I had known, we could’ve started season 2 way earlier, but we didn’t know and we are paying the price. It’s unfortunately not going to be this year.”

So with this small yet important update, we have confirmed that fans will have to wait another year before getting the chance to watch Arcane season 2. While Laurent mentioned it wouldn’t be coming this year, he didn’t reveal the expected release, so that is still a mystery yet to be solved.
