Crusader Kings 3’s next expansion, Tours and Tournaments, arrives on May 11, adding a ton of lavish events to the game.
Leaving conquests for another day, Tours and Tournaments instead lets players change history by hosting grand activities like weddings and royal tours, and will be available for $29.99 / £24.99.
“Pack the royal baggage, get the carriage sorted, and don’t forget to gather your entourage, because royalty travels in style,” reads the expansion’s description. “Visit your vassals, travel to a grand foreign wedding or take your turn at the jousting lists: all potential occasions for intrigue or advancement.”
Grand Tournaments can be used to improve your social standing and military prowess, Grand Tours let players increase their standing amongst their vassals (or extort them for higher taxes), and Grand Weddings are both demonstrations of power and calculated political plots.
Vacating your castle to attend these occasions comes with certain risks, of course, as leaving an ambitious regent at home can be perilous in itself. Beyond that, players must use the new travel system to plan their journeys, either safely through the likes of civilised lands or efficiently through forests and other dangerous areas.
Tours and Tournaments also adds Knightly Accolades, new armour designs, and new western clothing to let players host and attend these events with as much extravagance as needed.
It adds even more content to an already packed and critically acclaimed game, as IGN’s 10/10 review of the base version said: “Crusader Kings 3 takes the throne as the new king of historical strategy by expanding on and deepening the best parts of what made its predecessor memorable and unique.”
