After more than a week, Team Secret puts an end to speculations. The organization finally announces the departure of offlaner Daryl “iceiceice” Xiang and the official entry of Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok to its Dota 2 roster. This roster change took place only 2 days before the final Major, the PGL Arlington Major begins.
During the recent Gamers8 Riyadh Masters tournament, the Dota 2 community saw Team Secret attend without iceiceice. The team did not reveal any reasons as to why he was absent. Instead of the Singaporean player, we saw veteran CIS player, Resolut1on fill in his shoes – and he performed brilliantly well.
Resolut1on shines at Riyadh Masters following win against PSG.LGD
Resolut1on has not played competitive Dota in 10 months but his performance in Gamers8 Riyadh Masters says otherwise.
During an interview segment with Clement “Puppey” Ivanov at the event, he even hinted that they were “trying out” Resolut1on. Another reason why people had speculated the roster change was because Team Secret itself hasn’t been in a convincing form. They fell just a step short during all Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) seasons, missing the Dota 2 Major twice in a row. With a great performance at the Gamers8 Riyadh Masters – in which they even beat the Chinese giants, PSG.LGD, convincingly – the team looked like they found a light at the end of the tunnel.
A reformed Secret at the Arlington Major
The final stop before The International 11, the PGL Arlington Major is set to happen very soon with only 2 days left. With a powerful combination of Resolut1on and Baqyt “Zayac” Emiljanov , Team Secret looks revitalized. On the other hand, iceiceice is now a free agent. The only way he can hop on the TI11 train is to find a team in the DPC before time runs out!
Will Team Secret have a powerful showing at the PGL Arlington Major, or will the roster change end up falling short? We will be covering the PGL Arlington Major on our wite, so stick around Esports.gg to find out.
