Rayquaza returns to Pokémon GO for Primal event on February 22

Rayquaza, a Legendary Pokémon from Generation III, is making its long-awaited return to Pokémon GO. It returns for a brief event whilst Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon are making their debuts in the game.

This all centers around the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas event. The Primal creatures will then be available for the Global version at a later date.

Primal Rumblings, as the event is being titled, will occur Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. and last until Friday, February 24, 2023, at 10:00 p.m. local time. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Pokémon spawning during Primal Rumblings

Naturally, the five-star raid will only be Rayquaza and yes, it can be shiny. The Mega Raids during the event will be for Mega Latios and Mega Latias, both of which can be shiny. Keep in mind that, unlike other events, this is a fairly short event. It will only last two full days whereas most last about a week or more.

Wild encounters will include the following:

Treecko (can be shiny)
Torchic (can be shiny)
Mudkip (can be shiny)
Wurmple (can be shiny)
Whismur (can be shiny)
Numel (can be shiny)
Barboach (can be shiny)
Grovyle
Combusken
Marshtomp
Absol (can be shiny)

Raids will also change briefly for the event. Here are the one-star Pokémon available:

Treecko (can be shiny)
Torchic (can be shiny)
Mudkip (can be shiny)

Three-star creatures will include:

Grovyle
Combusken
Marshtomp

As a result, it’s imperative you get in and get these creatures. It may be a very long time before Rayquaza and others rejoin the game. Be sure to check in during the event to see what you can find!
