In a leak published by Insider Gaming, it has been claimed that Call of Duty 2023 does exist and it will be a full-fledged release. This statement was backed up by the likes of Charlie Intel on Twitter, giving credence to the leak. While the report was light on the details, there are suggestions that it’ll be a game that’s ‘heavily connected to the Modern Warfare series’ – suggesting a spin-off or another remaster of sorts.
Regardless, learning that Call of Duty 2023 exists in full is a shock for fans, as they were long led to believe that this would be the first year in over a decade without a full series release. There were rumours circulating that an expansion would befall Modern Warfare II, but now, it seems that that idea has been thrown out the window.
Call of Duty 2023 Release Date Revealed
At the heart of the leak from Insider Gaming sits a series of dates. These dates purportedly reveal the beta phases, early access, and full release window of Call of Duty 2023. At present, almost nothing is known about the game, but the schedule has apparently already been confirmed within Activision’s studios:
Beta weekend 1 (PS4/PS5) – October 6, 2023 – October 10, 2023
Beta weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – October 12, 2023 – October 16, 2023
Campaign Early Access (PS4/PS5) – November 2, 2023
Full Release (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – November 10, 2023
Recently, fans have been mourning the state of Modern Warfare II, despite there being a hefty update landing in the form of Season Two in just a few days. There’s little to celebrate on the platform, it seems, and from bugs in the code to meaningless changes, the community is still split regarding Modern Warfare II even five months after launch.
So, it comes as a surprise that Activision has plans to release a new, premium title. There are suggestions on both sides of the fence, with one party stating that Modern Warfare II should be fixed, and the other claiming that Activision should move on… Which is what may be happening.
Is Call of Duty in Trouble?
Following a rocky launch period for both Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, fans are wondering if Call of Duty is in trouble. It has crashed down the viewership charts in general on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, even if the Call of Duty League’s major tournaments are pulling in record-breaking numbers. There’s almost no interest in what’s coming for Modern Warfare II from the community at large, and all people seem to want is what they’re not going to get.
However, there’s plenty coming to the Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 ecosystem in the coming weeks. From a new Resurgence map to a whole host of fresh content dropping with Season Two, fans may find themselves being placated for at least a short period of time.
But we can expect official news on the future of Call of Duty 2023 to drop relatively soon.
