Rekkles returns to LEC as he rejoins Fnatic

Considered one of the greatest players in Western League of Legends history, Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson is back in the LEC. The four-time LEC champion returns home to the place it all started, Fnatic. Fnatic finally announced what has been rumored for weeks that Rekkles will be rejoining the organization after two years away.

The news came not long after Karmine Corp tweeted a ‘thank you Rekkles’ tweet on their English Twitter page, thanking the ADC for his service. After failing to land a spot in the LEC for the 2022 season, Rekkles found himself playing on the ERL side Karmine Corp. This would pave the way for Fnatic to announce that Rekkles would rejoin.

It has been a bumpy road for the veteran AD Carry after departing from Fnatic. Rekkles became the second Fnatic player to make the controversial jump to bitter rivals G2 Esports in 2021 after Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther made the switch in 2019. This would see mixed results and ultimately crashing out of the LEC playoffs and missing the 2021 League of Legends World Championship.

Fast forward to 2023 and Rekkles is reunited with the organization that brought him unprecedented success not only domestically but internationally. In 2018, Rekkles helped Fnatic become the first Western side to compete in a Worlds final since season 1. During his first and second stints with Fnatic, Rekkles won four titles and multiple league MVP awards.

Rekkles now rejoins the roster with some new faces, but also some familiar ones. Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen played alongside Rekkles on the G2 superteam that underperformed.

Our new bot laner needs no introduction. After 2 years apart, we’re proud to welcome Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson back to where it all started. Martin previously served with us as early as 2012, and has played amongst many of the highest performing and successful rosters we’ve ever fielded in the Rift. An absolute powerhouse on the bot-lane, he enters the team with a renewed drive and hunger for the game; his personal goals align with what we are looking to achieve in 2023 and we’re confident on what comes next.

Fnatic’s official press release following the announcement of Rekkles.

Here is the official Fnatic roster for the 2023 season:

Top lane: Martin “Wunder” Nordahl HansenJungle: Iván “Razork” Martín DíazMid lane: Marek “Humanoid” BrázdaAD Carry: Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson Support: Rúben “Rhuckz” Barbosa
