FaZe secure top-4 at BLAST Premier World Finals
FaZe secure top-4 at BLAST Premier World Finals

After falling barely short of the BLAST Premier Fall Finals trophy, FaZe Clan has once again started off strong by topping their group at the World Finals. After reverse sweeping G2 yesterday, they repeated their performance with a 2-1 victory over Team Liquid. They will now play on the stage in Abu Dhabi to try and secure another trophy at the end of the year.

Liquid, on the other hand, finished the group as the second seed and now awaited the winner of NaVi-Heroic in the Quarter-finals of the $1,000,000 event.

Map 1 – Mirage – Liquid pull off a last-minute comeback

Liquid started off strong on the T side of Mirage. YEKINDAR’s entry fragging netted him a haul of 10 kills early on, putting the team up at 5-1. But Twistzz’s heroics got FaZe back on the board. The Canadian found impact frags and clutches across the map and kept his former team in check. The half ended with Liquid barely squeaking out an advantage at 8-7.

We started slow on Mirage, everybody was still sleepy, didn’t manage to eat breakfast in time. There were a lot of rounds where we had an advantage, but we managed to throw it away somehow. It can happen sometimes and yeah, just unfortunate today.

The second half started with a ropz 4k pistol round, and eventually, the Estonian provided a much-needed 1v3 clutch that allowed FaZe to push their scoreline to 14. But Liquid woke up at the right time to put together 5 rounds in a row and snatch a win right out of FaZe’s grasp.

Map 2 – Inferno – FaZe Dominate Liquid to tie the series

Starting off Inferno was a back-and-forth battle for control, where FaZe eventually came out on top with a 5-3 score. While Liquid kept the rounds close, Twistzz’s superb form, combined with strong numbers from Rain and Broky, allowed FaZe to take over the half with a dominant 11-4 scoreline.

Liquid didn’t get a chance to get started on the second half either, as FaZe’s firepower and game plan easily gave them map control. They closed the map out 16-5, and took us to Anubis.

We probably have one of the best infernos in the world right now. Our T side is very fluid, we don’t have a super set gameplan. We just play off each other really well on that map and yeah. We just played our game and they didn’t manage to adapt.

Map 3 – Anubis – FaZe Clan secure BLAST World Finals Top 4

If Inferno was a dominant showing, Anubis was FaZe Clan completely outclassing Liquid on the CT side. Despite Liquid winning the 2nd round force-buy, FaZe Clan just ran rampant through the server, with Twistzz hitting banger after banger. Before you could even figure out what was wrong, Liquid was already down 3-12.

Pistol round conversions gave Liquid some breathing room, but once guns came out for FaZe, clutches from ropz closed the game out. FaZe Clan secured a top 4 in the BLAST Premier World Finals, ensuring that they’ll play at the Etihad Arena.
