“A big shoutout to all the games on that list, especially our beautiful friends in League of Legends,” Leo Faria, the Global Head of Valorant Esports, said. “We’ve got the benefit of Riot Games of coming second and learning from the biggest esport in the world. So shoutout to them.”
Faria noted that Valorant launched back in 2020 and said how humble his team is about the scene’s accomplishments.
“We got to have our very first live event with a crowd in Copenhagen,” Faria added. “We had our beautiful Valorant champions in Istanbul where we got to bring together the entire community from all around the world.”

Valorant esports in 2022
LOUD won the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) in 2022. The tournament took place in Istanbul, Turkey, and the Brazilian team knocked out OpTic Gaming in the grand final. As a team, LOUD achieved a score of 3-1 and earned its first-ever victory on the world stage.
After mentioning Brazil’s victory, Faria went on to talk about the co-streamers and how VCT 2022 broke viewership records. He thanked the players and community for rallying behind Valorant. Of course, the folks at Riot Games who helped make the Esports Awards 2022 moment happen also got a well-deserved shoutout.
VCT 2022 wasn’t the only big Valorant esports event of the year. Recently, 100Thieves took home the gold in the Red Bull Home Ground tournament that happened in Manchester, England. Meanwhile, the Red Bull Campus Clutch World Final are currently underway.
