Guild Esports made a huge statement as they beat Masters 1 champions OpTic Gaming in their opening match of Group A at Masters 2 Copenhagen. The EMEA team will be moving on to face KRU Esports in the Group A Winner’s match which will be taking place on July 11.
Guild silences their doubters with their first Masters win
This was a truly special occasion from the side of Guild esports in a multitude of ways. Not only were they finally making their debut at a Masters LAN, they marked it by defeating Masters 1 champions OpTic Gaming. Which is also their first ever win against a non-EMEA opponent.
And though they have impressed many in the VCT this season there were still some doubts as to whether they would be able to make it out of the Masters 2 group of death. And Sayf had a few passionate words for doubters of his team during his post-match interview.

Though the majority of the players were making their LAN debuts, there was a lot eyes focusing in on the duo of Leo “Leo” Jannesson and Nikita “Trexx” Cherednichenko. The pair had been amongst some of the most highly talked about players within the EMEA region. And they showed off their immense talent against OpTic as they combined for 97 kills between them; with Leo being named the match MVP for his sensational performances as an Initiator.

LOUD lost their opening match at VCT Masters Copenhagen. They will now fight for survival in their next match.
OpTic Gaming in trouble already at Masters 2
It was a phenomenal performance from start to finish for Guild esports as they looked to begin their tournament prospects at Copenhagen. But that is not to say that OpTic didn’t have their moments to shine. Despite losing in a 2 – 0 fashion, OpTic made their EMEA opponents work for the win; with Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen finishing with a +9 K/D overall in the series. But it was a surprisingly quiet performance from the Greenwall’s star man Jaccob “Yay” Whiteaker who failed to make any impact in the match with his Chamber play; which saw him finishing at the bottom of the scoreboard with a 25/41 K/D.
As a result of their loss to Guild esports, OpTic will be heading to the Group A Elimination match where they will face Loud in a rematch of the MasterFs 1 Grand Final. And while they are no strangers to losing early on in the Group Stages of Masters tournaments, they have found themselves in a very deep hole this time around.
