The Game Awards Fan Vote Has Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers Crushing Elden Ring for Game of the Year

Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers are storming ahead in the fan poll to decide the winner of the Player’s Voice category at The Game Awards 2022, dominating both Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok.

The Player’s Voice award is a 100% fan voted category unlike the other awards that are set to be doled out during Geoff Keighley’s yearly show, largely decided by a hand picked jury made up from influencers and members of the media.

In the weeks leading up to the live show, gamers get to vote for their favourite title of 2022, whittling the pool down to just five games for the third and final round of voting. This year’s finalists include Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, Genshin Impact, Sonic Frontiers, and Stray.

At the time of writing – with little over a day before polls close – Genshin Impact holds a commanding lead over its rivals with 53% of the vote, while Sonic Frontiers maintains a comfortable second with 33%. Elden Ring meanwhile is supported by a mere 8% of the voting audience, while Ragnarok – which launched just last month to critical acclaim – is sitting on 5%. Stray meanwhile has a mere 1% of the vote.

IGN will be streaming The Game Awards live when it kicks off on Thursday, December 8 at 4:30pm Pacific / 7:30pm Eastern. As always the show will feature musical performances, celebrity appearances, and numerous world premieres, including a first look at gameplay for Star Wars: Jedi: Survivor.
