Polkastarter is holding the very first Web3 gaming awards ceremony on December 15th with the official name of the ceremony being “Gam3 Awards”. This event will be the first of its kind as an official voting board that sees some of the top names from the whole of the gaming industry!
Games released on the blockchain in 2022 will have the chance to gain major recognition from both the media and gamers. Crypto gaming receives a lot of backlash due to it being a recent emerging industry.
The first Web3 gaming awards event
The judges featured in this event are Justin Kan (Twitch & Fractal founder), Itai Elizur (Market Across), Urvit Goel (Polygon Studios), Rachel Levin (ImmutableX) and Matt Sorg (Solana Foundation). As you can see the panel features figures from some of the industry leading names from Web3 gaming!
Votes casted will be based on a number of factors:
Gameplay graphics
Gameplay mechanics
Replayability
Player accessibility
Player experience
There are a total of 16 categories that are being judged. The categories are:
Game of the Year
Best graphics
Most anticipated
Best graphics
Best action game
Best mobile game
To name a few, with other categories touching upon the respected type of games available, Role Playing, Card games, Esports etc.
Voting will be split 90% to the jury we listed above and then 10% to voters that can leave their votes via the awards official website.
Your vote counts!
The ‘Game of the Year’ award will be decided solely by the panel and then other awards such as ‘Player’s Choice Award’ and ‘Best Content Creator’ is decided by the folks at home. So if you do want your voice to be heard in this ceremony make sure to get your votes in!
Omar Ghanem, Head of Gaming at Polkastarter had this to say about the upcoming event:
“We called it the “GAME” awards, with a 3, to keep the focus on the actual games themselves, get rid of the web3 jargon and negative connotation, while still paying tribute to the underlying web3 tech that we believe will help shape the future of gaming.”
Whilst being able to earn bragging rights from being included and voted for in this event, game development teams will also have their chance to earn money. This comes from a dedicated prize pool being funded by Machinations, Naavik, Ultra, Immutable X, and Blockchain Game Alliance! A total of $300, 000 is up for grabs!
We’re excited to see the outcome of this award ceremony! Games such as The Sandbox, Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained and Phantom Galaxies are in the running to win some of the awards. It’s amazing to see the masterminds behind this getting the recognition they deserve!
We hope all the best to those who have been shortlisted for awards and to those who are taking part in the event. It should be an interesting turn of events!
