Week two of the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) has ended with Green Group wrapping up. Sixteen teams competed across four days for three slots in the PMGC 2022 Finals in Jakarta.
After intense matches for Group Red last week, Group Green was filled with upsets.
PUBG’s PMGC has adopted a new format for 2022. The 48 competing teams have been divided into three groups of 16 teams each for the Group Stage. Each group plays separately from Thursday to Sunday every week with the top three making it to the PMGC Grand Finals. The bottom five teams are eliminated while teams placed fourth to 11th move on to the Survival Stage.
Group of Death lives up to its expectations
For many, Group Green was the group of death . With teams like PMWI champions Vampire, South Asia champions Stalwart, and defending world champions Nova competing, the group was a really tough one. And it lived up to its expectations.
Mongolia’s GodLike Stalwart ended the group in the first place, ahead of Nova Esports. Both teams had a vehement fight for first place. In the end, though, it was Stalwart who emerged on top. The team had 10 top-four finishes from 24 matches and while they did place dead last in three other matches, the overall consistency pulled them to first place.
Nova weren’t far behind, though, and with four chicken dinners amassed 256 points, just four behind GodLike’s 260. With 40 eliminations and 13,490 damage, Stalwart’s Top was adjourned as the MVP for Group Green.
Turkey’s Fire Flux Esports put up a surprising performance to place third ahead of the Thai duo of Bacon Time and Vampire Esports. The two teams are some of the favorites to take home the PMGC trophy and while they did put up an awesome performance, their inconsistency got the better of them to push them to fourth and fifth place.
