Soniqs comeback arc? – PGC 2022 Losers Bracket 1 Expectations

The competition at the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2022 is heating up. After an intense group stage, all teams in the Bracket stage, which includes the Lower Bracket have been locked in.

The Winner’s bracket is where the main action is going on, but some heavy hitters got stuck in the gauntlet of Loser Brackets.

PGC 2022 Losers Bracket 1: Who are the teams?

For 2022, Krafton has adopted a completely new format in the PGC with a group stage, bracket stage, and the grand survival. These stages will determine the 16 teams who will compete in the Grand Finals.

The group stage, which happened from Nov. 1 to 6, saw the 32 teams divided into two groups of 16 teams each. Each group played 15 matches across three days. The top eight teams advanced to the winners bracket while the bottom eight have moved to the losers bracket 1.

The 16 teams in the Losers Bracket 1 are as follows:

Soniqs
Global Esports Xsset
Tianba Esports
22 Esports
Entropiq
THEERATHON FIVE

ShuaiGeDui
Baegopa
Petrichor Gaming
Luminosity Gaming
The Expendables

Gen.G
Buriram United Esports
FaZe Clan
DONUTS USG
Polish Power

Soniqs comeback arc and teams to look out for

Several underdog teams performed really well while some teams expected to do well faltered. Nonetheless, the new format of the PGC values consistency, and no team has been eliminated yet. Thus, all of them can make a comeback.

2 kills, 4 knocks, and -50 fantasy points

The Soniqs are perhaps the team which has the most to prove here. After a tremendous season so far, they were only a fizzle of their usual aggression and placed a lowly 15th in Group A.

The team to blame was ShuaiGeDui who managed to kick Soniqs out of both Pekado and Pochinki on both Miramar and Erangel. Interestingly, after claiming the cities SGD managed to play even worse.

For TGLTN and the boys, there are to key areas to improve. For one, self-control and ego plays are a plight to this entire squad, and they have to take a more lurky approach to most engagements, especially with vulture edge teams that will clown-car a compound just to play spoiler. Secondly, there is a tendency for SQ to play for positions assuming the enemy squads take reasonable rotations and play for a match win. Yet, out of 32 teams at PGC only 5 play a standard game and most are happy to kill steal, farm the blue and get as many kill points regardless of placement.

When looking at the rest of the competitors Petrichor, Polish Power and Lumiosity jump out as teams to look out for.

Just like Soniqs, Asia’s champions (Petrichor) haven’t been able to replicate their performance on the international stage so far. Their fragging power is immense and they might just get enough kill points across all games to make it forward, but they will face similar challenges in fighting the edges of the zone.

Luminosity had a great start in the group stage. However, they had a terrible day three to miss out on a slot in the winners bracket. They will be hungry for revenge in the Losers Bracket 2. Polish Power on the other hand, were unlucky in rotations but always manage to play a decent edge game. We are in a bracket where the majority of the teams prefer to play edge, and there are plenty of kills to be harvested.

Losers Bracket 1 will be a tricky lobby to navigate.
