Overwatch’s newest story, “Terms of Justice” arrived shortly after the “All That Follows” featuring Doomfist’s Talon, giving players a look into what’s happening on Sojourn’s side of the narrative. Here is esports.gg’s recap of the new Overwatch story plus some of our theories of what’s next for the narrative.

New Overwatch story: Terms of Justice with Cherise Boothe recap
“Terms of Justice” begins with Sojourn recalling her testimony to the International Justice Commission (IJC) against Overwatch all those years ago. She acknowledges that although her emotions got the better of her back then, she spoke nothing but the truth.
Sojourn then remembers how Jack Morrison, also now known as Soldier: 76, used to value saving lives more than following the rules. One day, however, Jack Morrison’s choices caught up to him and the IJC shut Overwatch down.

The Overwatch story so far
Now, Sojourn is facing those same difficult decisions. She recalls how Cassidy stood by the reunited Overwatch crew and held off the Deadlock Gang at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. Meanwhile, Genji went to Japan to stop Vendetta’s Talon from gaining access to a lot of anima weapons and D.Va’s connection to the MEKA Squad saved thousands of lives. She also remembers saving people during the recent battle in Rome against Vendetta’s forces.
Before Sojourn’s meeting with IJC representative Osei, she fondly thinks about Tracer and Winston fighting by her side. She’s concerned about the fate of Echo, Juno, and Mizuki as well.
Overwatch teases Helix general hero
When Sojourn finally talks to Osei, the latter tells her that her Overwatch agents don’t need to leave at all. Instead, Osei wants to renew Overwatch’s charter to make the organization a legal one again. Sojourn wonders what the catch is, and Osei reveals that “a Helix general” will monitor all of Overwatch’s missions moving forward.
Sojourn is concerned about this since Helix is known for enforcing their own code regardless of the casualties. The reveal of an Overwatch x Helix partnership is quite interesting here as it may be foreshadowing another Helix hero.

Sierra, her mother, Reaper, and Soldier: 76 in Overwatch
For context, earlier this year, we were introduced to Sierra from Helix. She joined the organization to find answers about her mother, who also happens to be Soldier: 00, the first-ever super soldier.
This new partnership between Overwatch and Helix could mean Sierra’s storyline becoming more closely tied to the next part of Overwatch’s narrative. It may even shed more light on her mother Kendra and feature Soldier: 76 and Reaper. While Soldier: 76 used to be Jack Morrison, Reaper used to be Gabriel Reyes.

Potential Cassidy and Reaper reunion in the new Overwatch era
In the “All That Follows” and “Crucible” short stories, Reaper appears to be regaining the focus and clarity that were previously clouded by his dependence on Moira’s substances as well. This could perhaps open the door to further developments involving his former Gabriel Reyes identity as and his history with Soldier: 76.
Finally, we cannot help but notice how Cassidy is working alongside Sojourn to lead a new generation of heroes. It reminds us of how Gabriel Reyes led Blackwatch, Overwatch’s covert operations division, while Jack Morrison took on the role of Strike Commander after the Omnic Crisis.
Interestingly, Cassidy also worked closely with Gabriel Reyes during that time. This parallel could mean a reunion between Cassidy and Reaper and a look into their leadership styles. That is, it would be interesting to see how Cassidy works with Sojourn in parallel to Gabriel Reyes and Soldier: 76 from back in the day.
