It seems Windrose has filled a pirate ship-shaped hole in many players’ hearts, as the indie survival-crafting adventure has already sold over one million copies in its very first week, according to a post by the developers. On top of those impressive sales, the game is also enjoying a player base of around 200,000 scallywags, showing the signs of a steady ongoing community on the horizon.
Not many pirate-based titles have come out in recent years, and fewer still have been successful – titles like Skull and Bones (which marketing claimed to be the first AAAA game) failed to deliver their promises of a pirate’s life for players. Now, Windrose has arrived with a golden mixture of survival-crafting, up-close combat, and large-scale naval battles.
