What’s the Deal With Magic the Gathering’s New Marvel Super Heroes Gift Bundle, and Should You Buy One?

Magic: The Gathering has begun showcasing its Marvel Super Heroes set, and while it’s a way off just yet (launching in June), the Marvel Super Heroes Gift Bundle is likely to be popular.

The box follows on from prior gift bundles, but is it worth the MSRP of $89.99? Why is it already spiking in price in some secondary markets? All will be revealed below.

Is the MTG Marvel Super Heroes Gift Bundle Worth It?

Let’s start with the real reason this boxed product exists: It includes a Collector Booster. These packs offer functionally the same cards as those found in Play Boosters, but are much harder to find and command a sizeable fee because they include rarer art treatments.

In fact, if you’re looking for valuable cards, you’re highly unlikely to find them in the more common (and affordable) Play Boosters, meaning Collector Boosters are almost always in demand just about everywhere.

Assuming the packs will be the same price as the $37.99 Avatar Collector Boosters, and that Play Boosters will be $6.99, the inclusion of one of the former and nine of the latter means there’s (at least in theory) $100 of value in this Gift Bundle.

That’s nice to know, but means you’re getting diminishing returns on your investment if you start paying more for the bundle, which is tricky because it’s being marked up.

For context, you can get a box of nine Play Boosters for $69.99, so if you consider this as being the same except you’re getting a Collector Booster on top for another $20, that’s not too shabby.

Really, it’ll all come down to just how much you want that Collector Booster. You can get more than three times the Play Boosters for around $200, which might be a better pickup if you can split the cost with a friend or two.

I’m not your adoptive, purple, Infinity Stone-collecting Dad, though, so only you can decide what’s worth it.
