Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators are among eight teams invited to participate in Dota 2’s PGL Wallachia Season 3 tournament.

The event, operated by tournament organiser PGL, includes a total of 16 teams which will compete for its $1m (~£812,915) prize pool.

The third instalment of PGL’s Dota 2 tournament series will take place at the PGL Studios in Romania from March 8th -16th, 2025.

Alongside Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators, Aurora Gaming, Xtreme Gaming, Tundra Esports, Heroic, Team Falcons, and Team Spirit have also received direct invites to compete.

The remaining eight places will be determined by qualifiers with four teams from Europe, two from the Americas, one from Southeast Asia, and one from China earning places.

Team Liquid heads into the tournament as Dota 2’s current The International champion. In Dota 2’s last major tournament of 2024, ESL One Bangkok, the organisation finished second behind PARIVISION.

Notably, all eight invited teams for PGL Wallachia Season 3 finished in the top 12 of Valve’s season-ending tournament last year.

PGL Wallachia Season 3 is one of three Dota 2 tournaments that form part of the PGL’s series throughout 2025. PGL Wallachia Season 4 is set to commence in April while the fifth edition is scheduled for November.

PGL Wallachia Season 3 Format

PGL Wallachia Season 3 is split into a group stage and playoffs. The top eight teams from the group stage will qualify for the playoffs with the remaining eight teams eliminated.

The playoffs see the top eight teams placed into a double-elimination bracket to determine the eventual winner which will receive $300,000 (~£243,683) in prize money. All participating teams will earn at least $10,000 (~£8,124).

In addition to Dota 2, PGL also operates a Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports circuit. The tournament organiser will host four CS2 events across Europe throughout 2025 and six events in 2026.
