A World of Warcraft Player has reached the max level of 80 in Wrath of the Lich King Classic just nine hours after the game was released. The re-released, classic version of WotLK released at 3:00 pm PT on September 26th. Nine hours later, and Robin “Naowh” Köster Gabay had reached Level 80 on his Blood Elf Paladin Naowhpoop.
But obviously, this was no ordinary gamer. Noawh is a well-known raider in the Race for World First, and a two-times World First Raider with Echo guild. He’s previously competed in the WoW Mythic Dungeon International with Method and Echo, and according to Esports Earning, even dabbled in Heroes of Newerth.
Noawh’s climb to Max Level in Wrath of the Lich King
Noawh reportedly left the starting area for level 70’s after grinding one level, and then spent levels 71 to 80 grinding in Icecrown. Wrath’s levelling system is one of the most kind of the classic iterations, thanks to good dungeons, great questing, and relatively easy access to Cold Weather Flying. Still, managing to complete this task in nine hours takes superhuman effort, precise planning, and just the mentality to get your head down and grind.
What’s more, this is technically Noawh’s break from hardcore play. As a World First Raider and MDI champion, Noawh spends most of his time grinding retail. A trip back to Wrath for some record-setting is vacation for him we guess!
Wrath of the Lich King is widely regarded as one of the best expansions World of Warcraft ever had. Its return in the form of WotLK Classic is expected to bolster subscribers for Blizzard, and hopefully build hype for the incoming Dragonlands expansion. The level of nostalgia for the game is huge. Even if for some, enjoying WotLK means grinding a toon through it as quickly as possible!
