MultiVersus Leak Suggests Aquaman, Powerpuff Girls, and Anime Characters Are Coming

A MultiVersus leak has seemingly given fans a glimpse of what characters they can expect in the future, with Aquaman, the Powerpuff Girls, and even characters from anime all featured.

Twitter/X user @KrustyandUG found a handful of videos of Rick and Morty’s Rick which featured voice lines referencing the currently unannounced characters. Marceline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time is another character referenced in these voice lines, where Rock says things like: “Well, well, well if it isn’t Marceline the Emo Queen.”

This character was teased in the MultiVersus launch trailer while Aquaman and the Powerpuff Girls have been leaked previously.

Rick also references an “anime crossover”, however, which has added more fuel to the fire of rumors surrounding RWBY character Ruby Rose appearing in the game. Her name was already found in the code, and fans now think this anime crossover reference pertains to her.

Also on the anime front, and perhaps most significantly, Morty can also be heard screaming Kamehameha, Dragon Ball protagonist Goku’s most iconic move.

These leaks are far from official confirmations that these crossovers are coming, as deals may have fallen through since the lines were recorded. They could be in there for unrelated reasons too.

Regardless, the bizarre collection of characters would look right at home in the already chaotic roster of MultiVersus fighters. The Warner Bros. brawler already features Gizmo from Gremlins, Lebron James, Batman, Arya Stark, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, Tom and Jerry, Jason, and more.

Its relaunch on May 28, 2024 attracted a huge number of players but also a huge number of complaints, as changes to mechanics, the removal of certain features, and intrinsic monetization upset fans.

MultiVersus was originally released in July 2022 but many didn’t realize its status as an open beta due to its battle pass and other microtransactions, additional downloadable characters, and so on. After the game’s numbers had dwindled to under 1,000 concurrent players on Steam, Player First Games announced the beta would come to an end in June 2023.
