London-based production company CHEW Productions has announced a retrospective CS:GO esports documentary in collaboration with multi-platform media company Red Bull Media House.

The documentary, named ‘Memories of CS:GO – The Early Years’, will go over the history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, covering the game’s early developments, its highs and lows, and moments such as the first Major and team formations.

The 90-minute film is directed by Tom Newman and produced by Rebecca Williams, with the help of Laurence Schirrecker of Red Bull Media House. Memories of CS:GO will be narrated by Counter-Strike commentator Henry ;HenryG‘ Greer and explores personal recollections and pivotal moments from some of the scene’s most iconic figures such as F0rest, FalleN and pashaBiceps, among others.

The documentary is set to be released just before the start of the PGL Major Copenhagen playoff stage, on March 26th, 2024. The film will go live on the Red Bull YouTube channel at 21:00 CEST (20:00 GMT) and will be available on Red Bull TV.

The PGL Major Copenhagen marks the start of a new era for Valve’s FPS game, as it is the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 esports Major. Launched at the end of 2023, the successor introduced major gameplay changes that affect how the game is played competitively.

As an esports title, Counter-Strike regularly attracts millions of concurrent viewers for its major tournaments, with a record 2.75m people watching the Grand Final between NAVI and G2 at PGL Major Stockholm in 2021.

Tom Newman, Director and co-founder of CHEW Productions., commented: “I have been blessed for the past ten years to be absorbed by this community.

“The opportunity I’ve had to hear people’s stories, their journeys, and even their struggles has been fascinating. When CS:GO came to an end, to be honest, so did a piece of me. I felt that there was so much that didn’t get the chance to see the light of day, and this film was made out of a need to do that; retell those stories and make sure they aren’t forgotten.”
