Tournament organiser PGL has announced that Turkish organisation FUT Esports will replace Legacy in the upcoming PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 tournament.
According to the social media post, the reasoning behind the change was a result of Legacy having an ‘invalid roster’ for the Counter-Strike 2 event.
Legacy provided additional context to the change, sharing that it made a request to PGL to withdraw from the event.
In rough translation, it stated that it chose not to compete due to changes to its team. Recently, the organisation benched its team captain, Lucas ‘Lux‘ Meneghini, sharing that he remains under contract but that the organisation is open to offers from other teams. The player also confirmed the move, sharing that he was looking for new opportunities.
Counter-Strike 2 teams are invited to compete in PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 based on the VRS global standings for January. While Legacy was ranked 11th, FUT Esports placed 19th out of the top 20, climbing three spots from last December.
Starting from February 14th, the Turkish organisation will compete against some of the top teams in the scene, including 2025 defending champion MOUZ, alongside Team Vitality, FURIA, FaZe Clan and more.
FUT Esports in Counter-Strike 2
FUT Esports enters PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 as an underdog in light of its struggling performance in the season so far. Prior to PGL’s announcement, the organisation was among the first teams to be eliminated in the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Kraków 2026 after losing 1-2 to 3DMAX in the Play-In Stage.
The team also saw early elimination in the IEM Masters Rio 2026 Global Qualifiers, losing 0-2 to EYEBALLERS in the Lower Brackets, and also lost to FURIA 1-2 in the BLAST Bounty Winter 2026 Closed Qualifier.
As a result, FUT Esports enters the upcoming PGL tournament overshadowed by other frontliners. However, Counter-Strike 2 is no stranger to surprise results, though only time will tell whether the organisation proves to be the dark horse of the competition.
