Esports organisation Team Liquid has migrated more than 250TB of its historical content to the Walrus Foundation, according to a company announcement.

The move sees Team Liquid transfer recent years’ match footage, behind-the-scenes clips, photography and legacy media to a new storage platform, with the organisation stating that the migration was aimed at improving accessibility and long-term preservation of its content library.

According to the announcement, the organisation selected Walrus as part of a wider effort to modernise its internal infrastructure. Team Liquid said the new system will improve global access for staff, reduce operational bottlenecks and make its archive easier to manage and reuse across the business.

What is the Walrus Foundation?

Walrus is a decentralised storage platform built on the Sui blockchain. The platform describes itself as a high-performance solution designed to support large-scale data storage and distribution, using proof-of-availability and content delivery networks (CDNs) to improve access speeds.

According to Walrus’ whitepaper, data uploaded to the platform is encoded and stored across storage nodes, with metadata recorded on Sui. The system is designed to support long-term scalability, with storage capacity able to be tokenised and integrated into applications built on Sui, as well as other blockchains such as Ethereum and Solana.

Team Liquid did not disclose any financial terms of the collaboration, nor whether the migration will be expanded to include future content production.

The move adds to a busy period of commercial activity for the organisation. In recent months, Team Liquid has announced an official gaming chair partnership with Blacklyte, signed a sponsorship agreement with Duelbits and revealed a partnership with Sword of Justice.

According to Team Liquid’s statement, the organisation said it was ‘excited for what’s ahead’ as it continues to invest in infrastructure to support its growing global operations.
