Activision has unveiled a new esports circuit for its free-to-play battle royale title Call of Duty: Warzone.
The Call of Duty: Warzone Resurgence Series will take place from February to July, with $1.2m (~£888,630) in prize money up for grabs across three LAN events.
Beginning on February 9th, 2026, online qualifiers for Europe and North America will determine the teams earning a place at the first LAN finals at DreamHack Birmingham in March. In addition to online tournaments, the Resurgence Series will host an open LAN event in Birmingham, with the top six teams advancing to the finals.
16 trios will battle it out in the LAN final for a share of a $100,000 (~£74,062) prize pool. The top four secure a place at the Esports World Cup, which will host the season-ending event for the Resurgence Series.
In April, the Resurgence Series returns for another set of online qualifiers and a LAN event at DreamHack Atlanta.
The Resurgence Series Championship Qualifiers will take place following the Birmingham and Atlanta LANs, offering teams a final opportunity to earn a place at the main event. Activision has yet to reveal the dates for the qualifiers.
From July 29th to August 1st, the top 32 teams from across the season head to Riyadh for a chance to win the inaugural Warzone Resurgence Series championship and the lion’s share of a $1m (~£740,600) prize pool.
Warzone Resurgence Series Format
The Warzone Resurgence Series follows a similar format to previous Resurgence tournaments that have taken place. Teams earn one point per elimination and score multipliers determined by their placement.
Notably, Activision hasn’t confirmed whether the event will use the Match Point format, a mechanic seen in other battle royale titles such as Apex Legends.
Since the conclusion of 2025’s World Series of Warzone, the community has raised concerns about what the future holds for Warzone esports. With the launch of the Resurgence Series, the new format provides greater opportunities for players to earn a place at the title’s crowning events.
