2027 Counter-Strike 2 Major locations reportedly revealed

The locations for both Counter-Strike 2 Majors in 2027 have reportedly been revealed.

According to a report by Counter-Strike publication HLTV, Buenos Aires, Argentina, will host the first Major in May, while the second will take place in Shanghai, China, in November.

The report also mentions that Argentinian tournament organiser FiReSPORTS will host Counter-Strike’s first Major in the country’s history from May 31st to June 20th. If this proves to be true, Argentina will become the 14th country to host a Major, joining the likes of the United States, Germany, and Brazil.

A Major in Buenos Aires will mark five years since Counter-Strike’s crowning event last took place in South America. In 2022, ESL hosted the Rio Major in Brazil, with Outsiders (Virtus.pro) scoring the victory. For FiReSPORTS, the Buenos Aires Major would be the first time the organiser has operated a high-profile event.

Counter-Strike 2’s second Major of 2027 reportedly heads to Shanghai and is expected to take place from November 22nd to December 12th. Hosted by Perfect World, the 2027 Shanghai Major would mark the second time the event has taken place in the Chinese city after the tournament organiser hosted a Shanghai Major in 2024.

The Argentine and Chinese Majors would follow the IEM Cologne Major and the PGL Singapore Major, taking place in 2026. HLTV also reported that ESL and BLAST have secured the Majors for 2028, but the locations are unknown.

Over the past six years, FiReSPORTS has hosted a range of regional events, attracting some of South America’s biggest teams. In 2025, it joined forces with fellow tournament organiser PGL to host three Tier 1 events, but these were subsequently cancelled as a result of CS2’s congested calendar.

With limited experience in hosting high-profile esports events, it will be interesting to see if FiReSPORTS can operate a large-scale tournament without encountering any issues.
