Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Includes ‘Suggestive and Sexual’ Content From Original MGS3, Rating Suggests

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater includes the suggestive and sexual content in Metal Gear Solid 3, including the Peep Demo Theatre, according to an age rating.

While developer Konami has not formally confirmed that the controversial content has been retained, the U.S. classification board the ESRB has rated the stealth action game as Mature 17+ due to its realistic gunfire, cried of pain, bloody combat, and “suggestive/sexual content.”

As well as detailing the game’s realistic combat and violence, the ESRB reports: “Cutscenes depict further instances of violence/blood: a restrained character beaten and electrocuted; a character shot in the eye; a character on fire shot several times.

“The game contains some suggestive/sexual content: a man groping a woman’s breasts; close-up cameras angles of deep cleavage; a character briefly groping a man’s crotch; a Peep Demo Theatre allowing players to view cutscenes of a female character’s body from a first-person perspective.”

The Peep Demo Theater is an unlockable extra feature found in the Subsistance and HD Collection versions of the original Metal Gear Solid 3 that permits Snake to move the camera around and zoom in during the cutscene in which Eva appears in her underwear. It is unlocked by playing through the game four times.

Konami confirmed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater releases on August 28 with a new teaser trailer that also revealed the Snake vs. Monkey minigame is similarly making a comeback.

“Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been,” IGN said in our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, which reflects on Snake’s new first-person perspective. “It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault.” We awarded the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater an impressive 9.6.
