On its 10th anniversary, G2 Esports has announced its entry into traditional sports with the launch of G2 Football Club.

The team will make its debut in Kings League Germany, competing against eight other teams in a qualification series set to be announced on April 12th.

The top two teams from the qualification series will fly to France to represent Germany in the upcoming Kings World Cup Clubs 2025.

Created by popular Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos and former professional footballer Gerard Piqué, Kings League is a seven-a-side football franchise with several divisions across the world. After making its debut in Spain in 2022, the competition has expanded to the likes of Italy and Brazil, the latter of which includes fellow esports organisation FURIA Esports.

Based in Berlin, G2 FC has appointed Ron Stublla as Team Manager and Malik Hadziavdic as Head Coach. Stublla brings extensive experience in sports management, while Hadziavdic is a former member of the German National Futsal Team.

Tryouts for the rest of the roster have been completed and the full lineup will be announced soon.

“When G2 was created 10 years ago, the dream was to build the ‘Real Madrid of esports,’” said Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2. “We wanted to be known as a disruptive brand that’s not only competitively successful, but also has a great personality that knows how to entertain and captivate our fans through storytelling and community building.

“Now, 10 years later, we are the ‘Real Madrid of esports’, so it’s time for us to go one step further and become the ‘G2 of sports’.”

How To Watch G2 FC?

In order to provide fans with a platform to watch their games together, G2 Esports has partnered with German influencers Reeze and Rumathra, who will co-stream all matches on their Twitch channels.

G2 fields successful rosters across multiple esports titles, including League of Legends, VALORANT, and Counter-Strike 2. The organisation aims to bridge the gap between esports and traditional sports by expanding its presence further, with an entry into football marking the organisation’s first step toward achieving this vision.
